Flights to Los Angeles
It is typically best to fly in the night before unless your meeting doesn’t start until 11 am; it can sometimes take 45 minutes from landing to get into your rental car and then LA traffic is very hard to predict.
In and out of LAX is always best for more choices. Burbank is closer and less traffic, but it has very limited choices.
LAX to ISI (60 – 90 Minutes, depending on traffic)
BUR to ISI (50 – 75 Minutes, depending on traffic)

Ground Transport & Traffic
LA traffic usually subsides between the hours of 8 pm and 5:30 am. Ground transportation during these hours is pretty predictable. Outside those hours your travel time can sometimes double.
From LAX to ISI it’s roughly 53 Miles; best to rent a car, I recommend Avis as that seems to be the most hassle free.
Directions: From LAX, take 405 Freeway North (15 miles) to 101 North (35 miles) to Camarillo. Exit onto Flynn Rd, ISI is ½ mile down on your left. Visitor parking on your left.
The quickest route back to LAX is the 101 and 405 freeway routes.
Traffic is a major variable in getting to and from the LAX airport. A direct drive without traffic is one hour, but can take as long as two or more hours.
If you have time, you can take Pacific Coast Highway back to the LAX area and you may find that drive a bit more scenic and you can grab a meal at the various restaurants along the way.
Taking an Early Morning Departing Flight?
With the unpredictability of LA traffic, I suggest people stay at a hotel near LAX the night before. I would recommend the Renaissance LAX (Marriott property) or the Embassy Suites LAX (Hilton product) both of which are near Avis rental car drop. You can drop your car off the night before, walk to the hotel, have dinner there, then take their shuttle over to airport in the early morning. The shuttle ride is a 5-minute ride; check with the hotel for availability.
